The Carpet Mill sells a collection of floor coverings including Be it Wood, Laminate, Natural flooring, Cork, Vinyl and of course carpets, you can find everything you need under one roof at affordable prices.

Quality, choice and excellent service are the factors behind The Carpet Mill’s success. All consultation, in the showroom and in the home is free as part of the service, as is a guarantee on all fittings for 12 months. Our Range

There are more than 10,000 carpet options for a start! Customers can browse freely, without being badgered by overzealous staff, take time to feel the textures of the materials and get a real sense of the quality products on offer from all the major manufacturers.

Operating for more than 30 years in Cambridge, The Carpet Mill first opened in Mill Road in 1981, when it was part warehouse, part showroom, selling all types of flooring in an attempt to suit all pockets. It moved to its current premises in 2000, and a decade ago the showroom was revamped, the company investing in a variety of manufacturers’ stands, as it moved towards catering for the mid to high-end market.

The Carpet Mill on Chesterton Road has an impressive range of natural surfaces which are being rediscovered for their own qualities of being hard-wearing, stain-resistant, sophisticated and tactile. They also fit in with people’s more organic, natural outlook on life. carpets, vinyl, laminate and natural wood flooring.

New Ownership

Ben Wills has just taken over The carpet Mill after Peter Day’s retirement.

Peter took control of the company in 1995, had a wealth of industry experience. Cutting his teeth at an international flooring manufacturer in the commercial field, dealing with mainly hospitals and offices, he went on to launch a flooring division for a Cambridge company, worked for a distributor, then spent time as a self-employed sales consultant at The Carpet Mill, advising customers on colours, fabrics and types of flooring.

By 1995, he was more than equipped to take the helm. Today the focus is very much on quality, both in the branded products on sale (over 50 percent of the flooring in the showroom are still UK manufactured) and the expert fitting service. The Carpet Mill team are amongst the best in the county.

I have used Peter before a few times for carpet and vinyl for my bathrooms but this time needed a much bigger job - LVT throughout the ground floor of my house.
